Our 11-acre property in Covington, LA offers a variety of natural outdoor settings for your portrait session — from sun-dappled trails and a hedge-lined driveway to pine groves and a sandy creek bed along the Bogue Falaya River. In spring, vibrant azaleas add rich color and softness across the landscape. Manicured archways of greenery and mossy paths create a quiet, beautiful backdrop.
Seasonal creek sessions are a favorite in the warmer months, with families and little ones often barefoot at the water’s edge. Every corner photographs beautifully, year-round.
The PROPERTY
Hunter and Desiree have been creating together for over a decade, building a life and a business rooted in shared vision and artistic intention. What began in a small portrait studio on Magazine Street in New Orleans has evolved into a more personal experience on their 11-acre property in Covington, Louisiana - exclusive to their clients.
Their studio is now nestled inside a cozy 1940s cabin in the woods, offering both timeless black and white portraits and vibrant outdoor color sessions.
Picture a winding, tree-lined driveway, a peaceful creek, a quiet sandy beach, adventurous trails, and a dreamy pine grove—each one a stunning backdrop for portraits. It’s the best of both worlds: refined studio sessions and fresh, expressive images captured outdoors.
The Studio
In 2016, Hunter and Desiree set out to elevate the guest experience at weddings, believing everyone in the room—not just the couple—deserved the same level of attention and care. That vision led to the creation of HD Portrait Co. (originally HD Photobooth Co.), named for their initials and built on their shared commitment to quality.
Since then, Hunter has photographed thousands of people at hundreds of events, establishing a brand known across Louisiana for its timeless black and white portraits, thoughtful direction, and signature style. His expertise in posing and the personal experience he creates at every event make HD Portrait Co. truly one of a kind.

Before they were married, each ran their own wedding photography business—until one day, Hunter proposed, and they officially became The Rylands. What he didn’t know was that Desiree had already secretly purchased the domain name We Are The Rylands just weeks after they photographed their first wedding together in early 2015.
With over 15 years of combined wedding experience, they’ve since worked exclusively as a husband-and-wife team—bringing energy, joy, and intention to every wedding they document, while thoughtfully creating heirlooms that will last for generations.
